Not interested in paying Google storage costs for gmail. Would very much like control over email.

Every social media site/system is fun when it’s just anyone and their friends.

This is why early adopters always like new sites.

This is why group chats still win.

Ug. The otherwise wonderful home.social is being shut by its German owner. I took a lot of time finding a good Mastodon server and now will lose all of it. The whole idea of portability and user ownership is terrible. It’s both not true (follows etc) and even if true terriblly tedious to do.

Mastodon is a much worse service than Twitter. All of the “benefits” are negatives to casual use. This is absolutely not how I want to spend my time.

Server suggestions welcome. End Sunday grumble.

Weekend started with friend cooking dinner for us, followed by a Saturday with friends at the beach and a nap.

The new Kesha disc is just bangers. Every time I wonder if I'm in the sweet spot for her work, and every time *boom* it's perfect. “Eat the Acid" has a sound that makes me so happy.

Also I bought it on Bandcamp and it’s now pulled? Talk about artists who need support directly…

@nickheer I use Find My with a dozen or so friends, worldwide, and spouse. Have for years, and sometimes it's given me wonderful accidental meet ups with friends who aren't in their home city and haven't communicated. Also stops the “are you on your way home" texts entirely. Love it.
