My profile pic is of a lovely peacock at Lagoon 🦚, and the header is of Big Thunder Pond at Disneyland 🐻

Fascinating both for what it says about dev & what it says about statistics:

A gamedev realized Linux users were just 5.8% of their sales, but represented 38% of bug reports.

Then they looked at those numbers closer, and realized. Linux users were not experiencing more bugs. Almost none of the Linux-user bugs were Linux-related. Linux users were simply *more likely to file bugs*.

Their conclusion: A linux port pays for itself bc it nerdsnipes ppl into giving u free QA

Sunda Owlet

A tiny brown owl of humid forest in mountains and foothills, with brown upperparts and white underparts with long, broad rufous-brown streaks. Tooting song is variable, though the most common pattern is β€œdoot doot-doot doot do-do-do,” repeated every 10-30 seconds. Often sings during the day, and can be mistaken for a barbet, but the exact pattern of toots is unlike any barbet. Visually, could be mistaken for a scops-owl, but separated by the distinctive voice, the broad brown streaks below, and the lack of ear tufts.

@ian OK, I’ll chime in:

Most writing systems either evolve over generations, or are created by expert linguists.

But Cherokee’s was invented by one person, Sequoyah, who not only was not a linguist, but never went to school and never learned to read or write.

He saw English-language books, and despite not speaking English, understood the general principle, and thought, β€œI can do that for my language!”

He spent 12 years developing his writing system, and it is still the standard today.

Fuck it. Pronouns in BIOS

Imagine having the complete scripts (game code) of all Sierra On-Line games that use the SCI engine published between 1988 and 1996 fully decompiled, human-readable and annotated.

Yes. 100% of the scripts. 100% of the games.

SCI mastermind sluicebox did it again!

If you want to learn about the full story, ranging from a deep-dive into the code and tales about the history of Sierra's script language and previous reverse engineering efforts, check out

Broad-billed Flycatcher

A long-tailed, slender songbird with fine bill. Adult rich blue-gray above, white below, with an orange throat and chest. Tail feathers are different lengths, creating staggered pattern; compare to Leaden Flycatcher, with tail feathers of roughly the same length. Inhabits mangroves and coastal forests, where it captures insects by gleaning and flycatching.

Here's what I'll do today and it would be great if you would join me.

On the website you're working on today, find a stylesheet and add the following rule.

```
*, *:hover {
cursor: none !important;
}
```

That forces you to use the keyboard. If you find something that makes it hard or impossible to do using the keyboard, fix it! Not just for yourself but for everyone relying on keyboard accessibility.

Edit: fixed code formatting

An image of the sun god Apollo reflects back from this golden-orange 1st c. BCE Roman sard intaglio. The warm colors are appropriate for this god, and his mane of curls are reminiscent of the portraits of Alexander the Great.
