I get notifications from a few subreddits for conversations about these conversational LLM products... and oh my goodness is it insane how people anthropomorphize them. On top of that - thinking like that tends to block the productivity they get out of the app. Maybe it shouldn't be, but it is wild to me.

@BasicAppleGuy It was almost EXACTLY 20 years ago that I bought myself a 17" iMac G4. The wide-screen lampshade is still my favorite form factor for a personal computer, and it is still sitting in my closet awaiting teardown and conversion to a modern media machine.
@Pontificator_OMF @Gargron We live in a world run by marketing majors with MBAs who aren't as interested in selling reality as they are selling. There are so many decision makers out there who have no idea what an "LLM" is that are signing off on "AI."
@Oggie Absolutely. The same as the fact that it isn't just convenient that a chunk of Musks money to purchase Twitter came from countries whose leadership suffered as a result of the presence of a worldwide community town square.
@AnarchoNinaWrites Fuck. I have been failing forever at finding entrance to the GOP are absolutely working to and have rigged elections conversation in a world where people are conditioned by tribalism to instantly attack the notion that any of our elections have been rigged. Almost everyone that I know that would hesitate to call out GOP election rigging would also use the accusation-confession line for so many things. Thank you for this.

@shortridge My family has a list of four words, a symbol, and a number. At home I have a small booklet with all my passwords written as (for example) 4ws# indicating all 4 words, followed by the symbol, followed by the number.
If I update my passwords, I write down the new 4 words, new symbol, new number, give it to family (I think my Dad keeps it in a fireproof safe deposit box hidden somewhere in his house), and don't have to update anything in my own password keeping booklet.
@sundogplanets This brings up fond memories of my winter doing animal care on a touristy island that is all but abandoned in the winter... just me and the herps.
@Teri_Kanefield A more cynical approach would be to assume that, regardless of whether she has read the book, she is concerned about her own family's generational power and the threat that a realignment of the GOP power structure would be to that. In any case - I will readily welcome her telling people to vote against Trump.
