Has anyone tried out the Buy 1 get 1 free option for HSR in Taiwan? Is it just me or is it overly complicated? I'm required to download 2 different apps? I first buy the ticket from a third party and then hope that the discount code works on the HSR website? And some websites are saying it's not valid anymore. Does anyone know? I have a friend visiting soon and would like to use it.

Just occurred to me that I may have been among the first who were recruited online, for a job in another country to boot.
In 1996 I saw a posting for a bartending job at Grafenkeller, in the Mosel Valley. I used my Compuserve email to apply. We agreed on a salary and I took the train to head there for the summer, sight unseen.
It turned out wonderful and I made some great friends (whom I've unfortunately lost touch with).
