I tried to take a photo of a grasshopper on my windshield, but now it looks like it's gigantic and destroying the town.

It's actually pretty amazing that a open source product developed by a tiny non-profit, running on a network of servers self-funded by volunteer administrator and moderators has managed to absorb some portion of one of the world's largest for-profit social networks.

It's a miracle the whole thing didn't collapse or catch fire.

Great job everyone.

When it came time to reckon with social media’s failings, nobody ran to the “web3” platforms. Nobody asked “can I get paid per message”? Nobody asked about the blockchain. The community of people who’ve been quietly doing this work for years (decades!) ended up being the ones who welcomed everyone over, as always.
@sethcotlar See, what fascists really want is just to share a little bit of power.
Day before the election, Apartheid Clyde who just took over Twitter says Vote Republican! You can’t make this up.
@Quatrus @AnarchoDoggo totally an election stunt. The only concrete piece of the “plan” of appealing to people’s limbic systems by promising punishment.

Everyone gives Meta and Twitter flack for the hellscape that is social media.

But you know who else deserves flack? Google.

They killed RSS so that everyone would use Google+ for news. Instead, everyone used Facebook and Twiter.

My latest @[email protected] blog post is about the *interpolation* of choropleth maps (or heat maps!) – what it is, which types exist, and why the type you choose matters so much for what your readers take away from your map.
Read it here: https://blog.datawrapper.de/interpolation-for-color-scales-and-maps/

Natural, Quantiles, Linear, Custom – which option ist the best for your map? We explain all options for continuous (unclassed) and stepped (classed) data.
