Former race and ethnicity reporter Emmanuel Felton wrote on X: "I’m among the hundreds of people laid off by The Post. Everything DHS has been doing and saying for the past week is focused around one goal: generating excuses.
They’re trying to give Senators an excuse to fund them, to give CEOs an excuse to wash their hands of responsibility, to give wavering Republicans an excuse to keep believing their BS, to give Minneapolis an excuse to let our guard down.
They’re trying to give everyone an excuse to believe it’s all OK now.
It is not OK now. Here in MSP, it is very much not OK.

The purpose of regulation is to protect humans from harm, support wellbeing and promote societal sustainability.
So the techbro stance is "I can't invent new stuff if I can't fuck with people's lives and health."

Eric McCorkleSomething snapped into place in my mind. There is an anti-AI position that has absolutely nothing to do with luddism, or any other anti-tech position.
AI is cognitive suburbanization.
Think about it. Architecting everything so that I can't do even the most basic thing without gratuitously using a big, bloated, planet-destroying energy hog- one that *in theory* saves time, but actually just wastes it. Reducing all my options to the same generic, regurgitated, cookie cutter slop.
