Apparently, Ryan Barrett @snarfed.org, an engineer/developer, is about to connect a bridge between Mastodon (Fediverse) and Bluesky.

Of note the bridge is OPT-OUT. That is, your content will be automatically bridged to Bluesky, UNLESS you OPT-OUT.

So how do you opt-out? You have to DM Ryan Barnett at @snarfed, email him (somehow), file a GitHub issue, or put #nobridge in your profile bio.

Flaco, an Eurasian eagle owl that escaped from the Central Park zoo is still flying around and living in the park. Several of my coworkers have seen him and I always look out for the bird.

Flaco has been eating rats and seems to like city life. He seems to live on the upper west side, impressive that a bird can swing the rent in that neighborhood.

Behold the Takin, a mountain goat on steroids! Weighing up to 400 kg and standing almost 5 feet tall at the shoulder, it rivals the muskox for the title of stockiest member of the Caprinae family (goats, sheep, and friends). Such bulk is what it takes to live in the inhospitable environment that is the Himalayas. It feeds on a variety of leaves and grasses, as well as bamboo shoots and flowers. In the summer, herds of up to 300 individuals gather high on the mountain slopes to graze, but they are otherwise usually found in small family groups of around 20 individuals.

it took 20 years, but i finally got my dream minidisc player: a Sony MZ-S1 Sports NetMD. 🤯

a neighbour down the street listed it for sale "untested" which usually means 'i tested it and it's broken'.

i gambled and bought it on sight. i practically ran home like a 9 year old just to put it through its paces, and it is *perfect*. 😆

the build quality is rugged and beautiful throughout. many of the surfaces are rubberized with a polymer that is still soft (and hasn't broken down). the curvilinear surfaces feel so good in the hand, makes you *want* to hold it. the pearlescent white finish hasn't even yellowed yet (!)

instead of a jog dial, you get a mini thumbstick which rests surprisingly well under the thumb. the deep orange display of the Sports S2 line has always been a favourite of mine - something no other company did.

i can't wait to load up SonicStage on my iMac and start transferring music :D
failing that, i'll be using WebMiniDisc to transfer music in-browser
