3D XPBD Chain Simulation: https://gitlab.com/-/snippets/4918914

Hard-realtime, low-variance, fixed size, no dynamic memory allocation, fixed upper bound loops, AVX2/SSE4.2/Neon. MT missing but trivial to add.

Currently not simulated chains are packed to 64-byte cache size and stored. So 32k chains are 2MB of memory. Which chain to simulate is picked based on game specific variables so not added (for example distance player, visibility, random sampling,...)

Ig Nobels to move awards to Europe due to concern over US travel visas

https://www.theguardian.com/science/2026/mar/09/ig-nobel-prize-europe

“During the past year, it has become unsafe for our guests to visit the country,” @MarcAbrahams , master of ceremonies and editor of the magazine, told the Associated Press in an email interview. “We cannot in good conscience ask the new winners, or the international journalists who cover the event, to travel to the USA this year.”

Scientific awards – which honor research that makes people laugh and then think – to move away from ‘unsafe’ US

Please don't go to GDC. They charge a lot of money when the main benefit is socializing outside the conference and add to that the danger of traveling to the U.S and GDC must end. I have a lot of problems with GDC and how they con attendees and speakers with "it's good for your career" bullshit. I haven't gone in years and won't in the future.

PSA: The Amazon wishlist doxing threat is much greater and more immediate than folks might realize. Attack works like this:

Stalker who wants your address opens an Amazon seller account and lists themselves as a third party seller for any item on your public wishlist. Then, they order the item from themselves as a gift for you. Bam, they have your address.

In particular, attack does not depend on an existing third party seller having poor PII handling hygiene, like the articles have implied.

It's up now. Assuming all goes well, in 15 minutes (at 12:30 PM Pacific) I'll be chatting a little bit, talking about the plan and maybe I'll demo some of the stuff I've been doing.

Thanks to @will for pointing out that if I'm willing to dev at 2560x1600 and stream at 2560x1440 -- which is exactly what I used to do for my old streams anyway -- then this is trivial by having local OBS crop and output separately to stream machine capture card.

I was assuming poor support for non-16x9 is because everything is 16x9 now, but surprising results from Steam HW survey show 16x9 at only ~85%.
