If you’re a US adult there’s a better than 50/50 chance that your PII was leaked by Equifax in 2017. At the time I worked for a small credit rating agency with a similar cache of PII on American adults. Our mantra was that if we got breached then just grab a box and start packing because the company would quickly be sued and fined out of existence. The fact that this never happened to Equifax was a failure of governance. That same failure of governance led to the 23andMe situation of today.
