Same as I ever was, albeit a lot more jaded and far less likely to talk about Anglo-European relations given these are now largely nonexistent. I seem to mostly be using this as a place for occasional ranting about the Tories being awful, random observations about random stuff, and screaming into the void.

The sheer brass balls of this. Like offering an Elastoplast after hacking off someone's leg and acting like you're a lifesaver.
Long overdue reading of Robert Musil. This about sums up why these days I'm mostly inactive here and in the previous place. I keep pondering starting up again, but am spending much of my free time reading instead, which generally seems a more productive use of time.
This sounds brilliant, TBH. Especially the idea of Starter being a leftie.

Finished re-reading Tony Judy's Postwar today. First time reading it in over a decade, and it was published *17 years ago*. But somehow it still remains a superb explanation of the current state of #Europe. Can't recommend it highly enough.

It's also one of the most astonishing #historybooks I've ever read - lots of little details to shock and surprise and bring it to life, yet with a broad narrative that persists and compels throughout.
