Same as I ever was, albeit a lot more jaded and far less likely to talk about Anglo-European relations given these are now largely nonexistent. I seem to mostly be using this as a place for occasional ranting about the Tories being awful, random observations about random stuff, and screaming into the void.

Europhobia: London tube explosions

The fragmentation of social media is getting more annoying by the day. Threads keeps notifying me about random posts from people I've never heard of. Bluesky never notifies at all. Mastodon seems dead. Facebook's full of algorithmic crap. Twitter's full of Nazis.
(I was also impressed how, despite them acknowledging that the Southport riots were by far right idiots stirred up by deliberate disinformation, it was all still somehow the fault of immigration.)
Less than a month into a Labour government, yet - according to a couple of my dog's friends' owners, who I'll now be avoiding - everything's already their fault.
And yes, fixing the root causes (economic, social, etc etc) is vital, and obviously the best ultimate solution. And £3bn is no small amount of money, given everything. But given the impact of better childhood nutrition and care on long-term outcomes, this too is a long-term fix.

I don't have children, and never will. The two child benefit policy will never affect me personally.

But making the choice to leave kids in poverty when you could make an immediate difference? This is the opposite of what Labour should be about.

Whip removed = mark of decency.

Dear Mac obsessives - I'm pondering getting one. Is it actually worth getting the incredibly expensive sounding AppleCare+ thing?
Anyway, dear newly-elected MPs: I have availability for digital comms consulting to help you get set up. >25 years' experience, including working for an MP. (As long as I agree with your politics on key issues.)
