@jonathan It's Sony, they'd absolutely without blinking an eye claim that their ultra-proprietary DRM is incompatible with whatever DRM lockdown bullshit Microsoft would force on the hypothetical win11Xbox.
@mxshift I founded a venture backed startup around the time it came out. My wife was our GC, so we had a board meeting talking about how she had managed our 409a evaluation. We came home and unwound by watching the latest episode at the time, which featured a surprisingly accurate board meeting about a 409a eval. We had a discussion about the wisdom of our choices in entertainment habits.

@glyph Some clever pythonista is going to reinvent double checked locking. Can't wait for the PEP adding "volatile" to the language...
@gsuberland @azonenberg @brouhaha @petrillic 12 strand MPO existed before IB used it. There is also 144 to aggregate 12 12 strand cables, used for building-building and WAN. I suspect this all goes back to the "networking does everything in multiples of 12", for example, 24 and 48 port switches. As far as I've been able to determine, the L-carrier system inherited the multiple of 12 thing from an earlier carrier system, that could multiplex 12 voice channels per wire.
@jonathan You've got my vote.
@cks Bonus points if it deletes the user's homedir if they set it to impersonate chrome on windows.

@rygorous @pervognsen @tommythorn @nothings Wasn't the popularity of arithmetic coding in the late 90s (mainly early 2000s in my recollection) due to the relevant patents expiring?
