Parabolic V2025.7.0-beta1 is here!
This is the 1st beta release in the V2025.7.0 series that contains a brand new Windows interface, written in WindowsAppSDK and WinUI, and an updated yt-dlp.
Please test and let me know how it goes!

Parabolic V2025.5.4-beta3 is here!
This is the final beta release before the stable. This update series brings many new features, including the ability to select video formats for audio downloads, as well as many bug fixes and small UI improvements.

Recently I've been trying to limit my YouTube screen time by downloading videos that I knew I'd be coming back to without having to deal with the stickiness of tailored recommendations on the sidebar and homepage.
Back when I was a Windows user, I had used a random YouTube downloader which didn't exactly have the best user experience with huge banner ads, constant notifications, among other things. This does the job perfectly for me and I'm thankful for all the work that's been done to make it work so well :))

Parabolic, The Open-Source Video Download App, Issues Big Update
There are plenty of ways to download videos from well-known video streaming sites on Ubuntu but I find Parabolic the easiest, least hassle option out there. For those yet to hear about it, Parabolic is a GTK4/libadwaita app for Linux (or a Qt one for Windows) that offers what it describes as a ‘basic frontend’ to yt-dlp. All sites supported by yt-dlp are supported in this app. Paste in a URL, validate, and download. Parabolic lets you download multiple videos simultaneously and save them to popular video or audio formats; sign-in with account details (if needed) and see the credentials to
