Came here to read spicy takes on infosec topics -- staying for the cats.

I write code for a living. Sometimes it even works.

@felwert auf den ersten Blick scheint mir das unpraktischer als im Terminal:
- kein automatischer Zeilenumbruch (stattdessen horizontale Scrollbar)
- unklar wie ich manpages öffne die in mehreren Sektionen existieren (zB `man open` vs `man 2 open`)

Aber hab auch nur einen kurzen Blick drauf geworfen, vielleicht kann das Tool mehr :)

@matze I've been using valetudo for a couple of months now. It's a great piece of software, so far no issues.

What I would recommend though is to *very* carefully read the instructions and caveats before buying a robot. There are some potential pitfalls, and the steps vary a lot by model.

I'm using this one: https://valetudo.cloud/pages/general/supported-robots/#l10s-pro-ultra-heat

One downside is that there is no community to ask for help, because the creator of Valetudo explicitly does not want that. Instead there are some telegram chats run by him, where you can ask for help, and he's a bit trigger-happy with banning people if he does not like the way questions are asked.

@theorangetheme @Viss these are the days when I feel glad that I only let my editor run arbitrary *elisp* with no security boundary
@OddJob it's hard to find a good can opener these days

@catsalad knows how to order boosts for maximum effect!

@hiddenalpha after some digging, I found this was actually a bug in lm-sensors, already fixed upstream https://github.com/hramrach/lm-sensors/commit/62a955319152ce0595932789d10e955304213beb
pwm: fix bad scaling due to use of integer type · hramrach/lm-sensors@62a9553

This fixes commit c1a1f4ff206c0e6959c3e4d6b19ba27963076d5e ("pwm: Move scaling factor from sensors prog to library") which didn't account for return type of `get_type_scaling()` being...

while playing with the the fan controls of my GPU in sysfs I found that setting `fan1_target` to `fan1_max` results in `sensors` reporting a PWM value of 128% 🤔

That doesn't sound right - how can a PWM signal exceed "on ALL of the time"?

@sigmasternchen @catsalad I wouldn't worry about loosing the know-how of making proper cat food - in fact, the whole business of feeding people to big cats is a paradigm shift, that completely redefines what "proper cat food" even means! Thinking out of the litterbox for a moment, I think it's safe to say that any cat food manufacturer who does not want to be left behind, needs to start thinking about canning people immediately.
@babe this must be the crow that left slices of salami in my flowerpot yesterday
