97 years ago today, Mary Poppins made her first appearance in a newspaper short story.

I found it a few years back, after searching for more than a decade, and have presented it for comparison at https://MaryPoppinsAndTheMatchMan.com/

Utterly delighted by GHOST TOWN PUMPKIN FESTIVAL by @adamgryu https://adamgryu.itch.io/pumpkin-carver

It's so much more than a multiplayer carving sim, with lovely exploration, and even some hidden mechanics that were a real joy to discover.

(Couldn't resist making a little three-pumpkin puzzle ... find the trailhead if you dare!)

I learned about this game after it was featured on @lauraehall's fantastic Halloween newsletter: http://tinyletter.com/31DaysOfHalloween

I wrote an article about the MIT Mystery Hunt and its penchant for designing puzzles that are designed to work better when large groups of players attempt to solve them - and how that's similar with designing for alternate reality games.

What makes Quantum Wordle a fundamentally different experience than Semantle Crosswords? And why is there a video game that requires 3,024 people to beat it? I answer some of those questions in the article below. https://www.argn.com/2023/02/puzzles_designed_for_a_crowd_at_the_mit_mystery_hunt/

Puzzles Designed for a Crowd at the MIT Mystery Hunt | ARGNet: Alternate Reality Gaming Network

Recently, an alternate reality game called I'm looking for 3024 people released. And while 3024's core narrative and puzzle experiences are contained within a Steam game and the website FranksComputer.online, the puzzle that players are currently struggling through is one that plays out on the game's Discord server: in order to hack into a remote

Extremely intrigued by Aconite's new Bureau of Multiversal Arbitration!

The first game where AI-powered art generation is a core mechanic? Very probably! And just in time for an EDGE column I’m writing about how AI content generation tools will transform game development and design…

I love the level of character customization in Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, and was delighted to hear that more options are coming.

The equipment upgrade designs don't feel as harmonious with the franchise aesthetic as the 2009 game, but are still a lot of fun. (With wonderful flavor text.)

Hope the community for this one sticks around until I have more time to really dive in.

I got to go up there.
