“It's making me dumber for sure,” the fintech software developer told me. “It's like when we got cellphones and stopped remembering phone numbers, but it's grown to me mentally outsourcing ‘thinking’ in general. I feel my critical thinking and ability to sit and reason about a problem or a design has degraded because the all-knowing-dalai-llama is just a question away from giving me his take. And supposedly I tell myself ill just use it for inspiration but it ends up being my only thought. It gives you the illusion of productivity and expertise but at the end of the day you are more divorced from the output you submit than before.”

"Es geht um Augenhöhe" - Jugendliche führen Jugendliche durch den 15. Bezirk in Wien und erzählen jüdische Geschichte. ⬇️

„In meinem Block“: Jugendliche...
„In meinem Block“: Jugendliche erinnern an jüdisches Leben

Happy Anniversary CSS!

On 12 May 1998 CSS level 2 went to Rec. It's amazing how far the web and CSS has come in 28 years.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to CSS over the years!

That is sad news for Gitlab and even more so for the people, who will be fired over agentic AI.

I want to explicitly point out how rare that actually is! This is the only client in almost 15 years of doing this job, who did this.

Also worth mentioning: our contact at KH Freiburg is a very kind and curious and also patient person asking all the right questions during meetings.
It was a breeze showing them how to edit content in order to keep things accessible for their site because the question "why it matters" wasn't even a thing. 😊

Creating the front end for https://kh-freiburg.de was a great process. It’s one of the rare projects where the client wanted their site to be accessible instead of it needing to be and then refusing it.
They even went and got in touch with @marcus to have their site properly BITV tested.
Today, we received a little package by them with a thank you note inside ❤️

In my year at Privacy Guides:

📰 I wrote 28 articles, including some long-form investigative essays.

✊ I designed and developed an entirely new section for the website, with long-term plans to develop it further.

🧰 I wrote 25 short tip-articles for the first tool of this new section, the Privacy Activist Toolbox.

📗 I researched and put together a directory of Data Protection Authorities worldwide (including 89 regions), to facilitate public access to report privacy violations of their local privacy laws.

👕 I created 4 designs for the merchandise store, including an elaborated unique vector line illustration.

🗣️ I wrote over 100 social media posts to promote our projects, articles, and videos.

💛 I engaged with our community to answer questions and provide resources.

If you want me to do the same for your organization, I'm currently available for a new opportunity!

✍️ New post: Lazy and Prompt

The story of Chrome 148 could have been about @scottjehl’s amazing lazy loading for video and audio 👏 – until Google decided to shove the Prompt API down our throats.

Unless I'm missing something, there's no way in the Web Audio API to change control signals using arbitrary mathematics?

I would like a node that converts a signal/message representing seconds to hertz. That would mean creating a node that takes T and passes 1/T.

WaveShaper clamps between -1 and 1, so that's no good. And I think AudioWorklets only deal in sample data/arrays.

Can anyone help? Maybe @supersole knows.
