For anyone attending the WeTeach_CS 2023 summit, come hear me talk about how computer science can be integrated into physics and astronomy courses in high school. https://sched.co/1KcZ0 #cs4yall #computationalthinking #computerscience #physicseducation #astronomyeducation #weteachcs23
Physics is not boring. Physics is bohring.
I am sponsoring a club at BHS all about computer science. They are looking for someone to give a lunchtime talk to the club about CS as a major and a career. If you are interested, message me, especially if I taught you computer science!

Welcome to 2023, everyone! 🥳🎉

To put to you how weird our perspective and perception of time is, we’re now at the half way point between Halley’s Comet visits!

If you’re born ~1980, you might be lucky enough to see it twice!

I just finished (mostly) reading (with a fair bit of some skimming) Mario Small and @jessicacalarco's book "Qualitative Literacy".

As a parallel to the large body of literature on quantitive literacy, it asks what it means to do good qualitative research, and provides 5 concrete answers.

The writing is engaging enough for even this non-social-scientist to follow, and there's a lot that is useful to me as I've been making my transition from my quantitative background.

We saw 45 alligator along the banks and in the water when we hiked the Elm Lake trail today at Brazos Bend State Park.
I had never read The Cuckoo’s Egg published in 1987 but now that I have, I say everyone who loves the Internet of the 1990s should read this book. EMACS and vi and shell scripting and Telnet all tied up in a story about heckling into systems when that idea was new. A must read.
