Witterings predominantly in English, aber kann auch Deutsch, e dopo un caffe forte anche un po' d'Italiano. Living in Berlin, working in IT, watching Brexit with horror, not as good at German, English, nor Italian as I once was.
It's actually bad luck to say MacBook inside an office. You have to call it 'the Scottish Laptop'

#NowPlaying Minyo Crusaders, Echoes of Japan (Mais Um Records reissue, 2019). I was the only person in Music Bar 45 in Shibuya, #Tokyo, on a rainy Tuesday night earlier this month. The bar’s owner, Yoshi, was giving me a crash course in ‘80s Japanese funk and soul, then pivoted to this gem from Minyo Crusaders, a band that mixes traditional Japanese folk music (“min’yo”) with AfroCuban rhythms. It’s so dope, I found it on #Bandcamp and ordered this LP on the spot.

Anyone outside or inside Germany interested in how Germany arrived at its wildly narcissistic anti-antisemitism: listen to this fantastically informative and lucid podcast interview with Emily Dische-Becker.

It's over 2 hours long but so, so worth it. Discussing anti antisemitism from the Anti-Deutsche left to the AfD and all. So much fascinating detail - Hessen's antisemitism commissioner wearing an IDF shirt etc.

The German Question w/ Emily Dische-Becker

Featuring Emily Dische-Becker on how Germany became attached to a wildly narcissistic anti-antisemitism and Israeli proxy nationalism that have made it one of the most anti-Palestinian governments on earth.

A fascinating run-through of some defining pictures of British politics and politicians from over the years. Really shows how evocative - and even destructive - a simple photograph can be.
