Most people are constantly bombarded with depressing news articles that make the world look gloomer, or are endlessly scrolling through social media which prevents you from focusing on other things in your life, which is why you should care about privacy (well, if you care about those things).

There's a big advantage using Linux in that you'll get a huge dopamine detox because there are no advertisements and tracking on your computer.
There's always the browser, yes. But most distributions ship Mozilla Firefox which have some tracking protection at least.
There's just something oddly peaceful about your desktop just not changing... you're disconnected from the world, but you feel free. I don't feel like I'm at the mercy of anyone else.

However, in my experience, most people don't check Windows news, and those who do probably don't care anyway. The users you see on the forums and videos are a small but vocal minority of people.
Perhaps I'm just pessimistic by nature. I don't know.
