I got an email where I could see the first sentence "Are you ready to take back your nights and weekends?" in the gmail index view, and my first thought was that it was a childcare service of some kind. Very disappointed that it was a recruiter email.
@mjec @brad To me, the example of the comatose adult doesn't seem that different than a zero year old, except that the zero year old doesn't even have the theoretical option to weigh in. Presuming that parents will vote in the interests of their children doesn't seem that far a cry, to me, from presuming that congressmen will vote in the interest of their constituents. It is a hope, not a fact.

It is both true that most of the times he's ever heard me say the word "electricity" have been during a blackout and that "election" and "electricity" sound like they could have the same root, so I'm actually kind of impressed despite the total lack of understanding demonstrated in the conversation.

Eugen RochkoI've made a deliberate choice against a quoting feature because it inevitably adds toxicity to people's behaviours. You are tempted to quote when you should be replying, and so you speak at your audience instead of with the person you are talking to. It becomes performative. Even when doing it for "good" like ridiculing awful comments, you are giving awful comments more eyeballs that way. No quote toots. Thank's
