@w8emv Sorry I've been so busy, I haven't checked this Mastodon server for almost 3 weeks. I had an old Shari node that works with Raspberry Pi 3's. It has two USB ports that plug directly into the Pi. There are also Shari's that work with Pi 4/5 where the USB ports are swapped around. Unfortunately, apparently the CMedia chip is broken, so I'll need to get the node repaired when Steve, N8AR gets back from Florida in April.
@oz1lqo "At the night of the legendary capacitor explosion" - I resemble that remark. 🙂 Many years ago, our local ARROW radio club had a 'build night' where we built really simple power supply boards that contained (you guessed it) a single electrolytic capacitor. I swear I looked closely at the markings on the capacitor and the PC board, and then managed to solder the cap in backwards. After applying power, within a couple of seconds, POW!!! Scared the crap out of me and the rest of the crew.
@N4JAW @KZ4LN Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. By the time you stack up four of the QCX-minis, you have enough space for a QMX+, which is a lot easier to build than any of the minis.
@archaeohistories Reminds me of the concrete mixer barrel left by the roadside just outside Lynchburg, TN (the home of Jack Daniel's distillery). Someone painted BR-549 on it, which was Junior Sample's phone number on the TV show Heehaw. I drove past it many times in the mid-70s when going from Tennessee Tech to Huntsville, AL where I was co-oping at the Marshall Space Flight Center.
@w8tam Wow! Reminds me of when my XYL had a 22 bullet lodge in the windshield of our 1982 Volvo Turbo Station Wagon. Police said it was a stray bullet from someone hunting too close to the highway. Thank goodness no one was hurt.
@w8emv @W8RP I've not been able to check in to the ARROW Monday night net for quite a while, since the Michigan DMR Tech Net on BM TG31266 runs at the same time each week. I remember many decades ago, that it was the weekly Star Trek show that came on Monday nights. There's always something.
@kb6nu Reminds me of my DJ days, back at WTTU at Tennessee Tech University. No classic music there at the time. Instead, I did the late-night shift playing things like Frank Zappa ("Be careful where the huskies go, and please don't eat that yellow snow"), and King Crimson. Also, Rich Little's "The Watergate Comedy Hour".
@AG7GM The iRobot company just filed for bankruptcy.
@w8emv Not enough parks, Ed?
@w8emv I also received your voicemail on NexNet this evening.
