At the night of the legendary capacitor explosion we also hosted a BYOD Oscilloscope night, where ppl could bring their instruments and learn more about them, common pitfalls, how to do basic measurements, more advanced stuff, etc.

Surprisingly many electronics enthusiasts don’t have an oscilloscope, and even more surprising, many don’t really know how to use the instrument they have.

The evening opened many new doors to the participants - I think everyone were happy 😃

@oz1lqo "At the night of the legendary capacitor explosion" - I resemble that remark. 🙂 Many years ago, our local ARROW radio club had a 'build night' where we built really simple power supply boards that contained (you guessed it) a single electrolytic capacitor. I swear I looked closely at the markings on the capacitor and the PC board, and then managed to solder the cap in backwards. After applying power, within a couple of seconds, POW!!! Scared the crap out of me and the rest of the crew.
@n8sbe 😂 We’ve all been there ☺️ 73s
@n8sbe @oz1lqo I still tell that story. I don't name names, though. I just say that it was a very "experienced" radio amateur. 😀
