They are currently testing ActivityPub integration.
Some people would like their ActivityPub instances to block Threads -- worried about either (currently theoretical) spam issues, or data usage issues (threads.net has a privacy policy for their ActivityPub integration but I haven't read it).
Some other people would not like their instances to block this, wanting interop by default.

Someone pls enlighten me (& what's the thing about blocking it/not blocking it). I thought it was a separate Meta platform.
