Reminder that you can criticize bad people by just pointing out that they did something shitty and leave it at that

You extremely don't need to go on to make fun of their physical appearance, sexuality, gender identity, or imply that they are mentally ill or disabled

And in fact if you do it weakens the point you're trying to make and also alienates people who might otherwise be your ally

@[email protected] what issues are you facing? I've had luck on all computers I've had Pop on, but YMMV depending on hardware.

Like anyone, I'm prone to making mistakes from time to time, but I like to make a habit of apologising when I mess up.

Like if I were to do something offensive unintentionally.

Like if I were to perform a Nazi salute at the presidential inauguration.

It makes me think that when an explanation isn't given, the perceived action was what was intended after all.

Mastodon is financed by crowdfunding instead of venture capital not because we don't know that venture capital exists, not because we don't have bills to pay, and not because venture capital isn't willing to give money to new social media platforms. VCs don't want a sustainable business, they want a big exit. Every VC-backed business is on a timer to deliver or die.
@DismalManorGang Absolutely, I've been daily driving the alpha since it came out, with very few issues. It might not meet everyone's use case yet, but should work nicely for occasional media consumption.
@frameworkcomputer I'm very impressed with the transparency and humble nature that Framework brings to criticism. Every company has room to improve, but Framework is one of the few company's I've found that seems it gives a damn.

@newfangled I empathize with you, I really do. The Linux community can be frustrating sometimes, because it is a very steep learning curve for most, and the barriers to entry for Linux newbies are very real.

My only suggestion is to keep in mind why you want to use Linux in the first place. For me, I truly believe in open source software, removing the mass surveillance from tech as much as possible, and so on. I faced the same struggles as you at first, but they fade with time and experience.

@mmstick really love the configurability and redundancy of moving apps across monitors! Adds a sensible shortcut for most without excluding us Colemak/Dvorak users.
