My twitter account is back and when that whole hellsite dies, I think I'm going to let it go rather than come back here. Mastodon doesn't work for me.
@mav It was really funny how the tech industry, which is usually anti-union, cheered on the employees of OpenAI to use their collective bargaining power to oust the board!
One time, in a former life as a food writer I interviewed a Nordic three Michelin star chef. I asked him whether how the food he ate growing up might have inspired his cooking. Almost all Asian and French and Italian chefs say ‘my mother’. He said, ‘we had horrible food at home and I was determined to break the cycle’
At least, is there a way for me to say "ignore content warning when label is X"? Need to find that out if I'm going to spend time here.
Using this website is so fucking based that I'm immediately put off every single time. A bowl of fucking noodles is expected to be put under a content warning and labelled as sensitive content? Content warning I get, because it forms a "I can click through if I want to" slant of this place but sensitive content is a bit far fetched.

Sam Bankman-Fried convicted on seven charges

After less than five hours of deliberation, a jury convicted Sam Bankman-Fried of seven fraud and money laundering charges. The conviction followed a five-week-long trial which culminated in Sam Bankman-Fried himself taking the stand, only to appear evasive and sullen as he told prosecutors he couldn't recall many significant events from his time as FTX CEO.Sentencing is scheduled for March 28, 2024, though scheduling could be affected by factors including whether the US decides to continue pursuing an additional five charges also set to be tried in March.

ngl I miss my twitter account once every few days
Soooooo, my twitter account got suspended because of an old tweet. Tried appealing, but it didn't work, so the suspension stays. I don't plan to find an alternative anytime soon, going to enjoy this phase while it lasts. If someone who was a mutual on Twitter reads this, spread the word.

"Piracy can't be stealing if paying for it isn't owning"

This is increasingly how it feels, when things you "own" digitally become inaccessible, and when shows which are locked in streaming services can get delisted on a whim, disappearing forever.

Thank you @Illuminatus for this quote.

[Edit: In case this wasn't clear, this is about entertainment and digital ownership, not physical goods]
