The KCPD, a state agency but locally funded, isnβt content with 25% of the cityβs general budget. They want 25% of all city revenues, even from federal grants.
If this lawsuit succeeds, taking federal money would mean finding tens of millions elsewhere in the city budget, which isnβt going possible. So no more federal grants, for anything. Hundreds of millions of dollars to improve the city, and we have to say no.
Fuck this state, and fuck the police.
Kansas City's Police Board wants even more funding for KCPD, so they're taking the city to court
Kansas Cityβs state-controlled police board is trying to use the courts to increase police funding. Advocates are worried it could strain the city's resources even further, while failing to improve police services.
