The KCPD, a state agency but locally funded, isn’t content with 25% of the city’s general budget. They want 25% of all city revenues, even from federal grants.
If this lawsuit succeeds, taking federal money would mean finding tens of millions elsewhere in the city budget, which isn’t going possible. So no more federal grants, for anything. Hundreds of millions of dollars to improve the city, and we have to say no.
