@paul nethack was pretty much the first open source game built on the Internet, that'd be my go to. I learned programming reading the source code of ADVENT, but it was in fortran and probably not exemplary?
@elipariser I guess there's always butts
@roxiqt always keep a lake handy

Remember that history is never far away. It underpins everything that is. Even if it’s hard to find, there are windows to the past everywhere if you pay attention. This one is courtesy of the City of Somerville.

@s_bosbach Thanks! Here's another one
@zarfeblong nicely done. I still remember that there was a method named something like lstrnicmpw for comparing strings in a special windowsy way, but thankfully the details are a haze

To this extent I'm really interested to know how the age breakdown of people on the #Fediverse. On one hand it would seem to make sense to me that most people here remember the "old internet" before the centralization and they're here to rekindle that flame of independence. On the other hand the youths are generally pretty up on this whole technology thing. I grew up on the internet and since then smartphones have become even more ubiquitous.

@simon No idea what the standards might be in this area, but I know what I would anticipate/hope for as a programmer trying to use the message to fix a problem; an XPath-like locator. In your example locator would be `columns[1].type` or something to that effect. and there would be a message associated with that.
@taviso probably a bot? When I had replied open on my blog I would see torrents of stuff like
this. Eli the bearded's reply is a gem tho
@chadloder why, is he a head of lettuce?
