Saying goodnight at the end of Lulu’s first full day at home. She’s claimed her bed as her own, filling it with toys from the basket, and dragging it around the room.

A dear friend died last summer. As we were cleaning out his house, I grabbed a sad rose bush that was still in its nursery container, but had sent roots into the ground below. I set it in a garden cart and let it languish. The cart filled with water and froze around the bare roots. As the other roses were blooming in spring, I trimmed the dead wood and planted it in a container. In the middle of a heat wave, this little rose is blooming with amazing color. I miss you Pat

I said the last goodbye to my sweet Ginger this past Friday. At 15, she had a happy ten years with me, and had been the boys’ dog for seven. She never really got the hang of being with most other dogs, but she did have a few fun buddies. And she was a patient, gentle girl with babies and kids.
She’ll be remembered for her prancing trot and springing run, her soft bouncy ears, her deep grunts of pleasure when her chin was scratched, and her joyful adoring smile.
My 15-year-old pup Ginger has canine cognitive dysfunction (dementia) so we can only visit the dog park when there’s no other dogs. She still has the bounciest ears and funniest prancing run, though 🐕#DogsOfMastodon #SeniorDogs #DogPark #dogs
