I miss the old internet.
Having a kid is like having the greatest gift in the world, and day by day preparing it to flourish and leave you. #parenthood #parenting

I'm reading #readwriteown right now and learning a lot about the #openweb. One thing I'm really curious about - what are some of the new protocols being developed? Even niche ones? I'm interested in exploring some of these and seeing how they work. Seeing their use cases.

The book contends that after the web and email, no new big protocols were super widely adapted.

Any suggestions?

I wish America would invest way more in research and education. I don't see us competing in the long run with the current trajectory we are on. #education
This whole bloomburrow set has inspired me to finally learn to play #mtg magic the gathering.
I feel blessed to have a supportive family system from both myself and my partner - but it's hard when everyone wants to spend time with my kid, and I'm working insane hours, and the little time I do have with him, someone else wants to see him/be with him. The weekends which should be us having fun, always has a family engagement where they want to see him. Sometimes it feels like no one thinks about the father and his needs to be with his kid and have that time - the two of them #parenting
The thing about #nyc is that it is the greatest city in the world, but there is no time for mental #peace, or a semblance of stillness. Everyone is always grinding. My #commute is horrendous. You wake up and rush to your next destination, rush to get work done - rush to get home to see your family for a fraction of the time you should. Rush to eat dinner, rush to do chores. I wish the infrastructure were better to at least steal a few more hours in my day from my commute.
The Van Wyck Expressway is the most soul sucking stretch of road anywhere on planet Earth. When will it be completed. So many lives would be transformed with just decent infrastructure. What happened to new rail projects? Why has this been under constant construction since the 1990s? #nyc #vanwyck #commute #infrastructure

Do you remember when Lyra leaves Pan in "The Amber Spyglass", in order to continue her journey, and is in physical anguish from being separated from him for the first time?

That's exactly how I feel leaving my child every day when I go to work. I spend every possible minute of my free time with him, but it's still no where close to being enough. Wondering if it'll ever get better. Trying to be mindful and making every moment I can with him count.

I miss the old internet. I miss its sense of discovery and community. I miss the days where everything felt personalized, and people were creating and contributing because of passion.

I miss finding random message boards, or reading a small website's guestbook.

I've been trying to find that feeling of newness, discovery, and "underground" culture again.

I wonder if that feeling is something that can only experienced when you're young - or, if it's still out there. #nostalgia #openweb #90s
