For Tanka Tuesday, we are encouraged to compose tricube poems about particular moments in our days and to describe, literally or abstractly, how we feel at those moments and how they affect us.

Tricube?

Rules of the tricube form:

• Stanzas: Exactly three stanzas;
• Lines: Three lines per stanza;
• Syllables: Exactly three syllables per line;
• Rhyme/Meter: No specific rhyme or meter is required; the focus is on syllable count;
• Flexibility: While traditionally three stanzas, some poets treat it as a “3x3x3” structure that can be expanded to multiples of three-line stanzas.

When it comes to partnership, some humans can make their lives alone – it’s possible. But creatively, it’s more like painting: you can’t just use the same colours in every painting. It’s just not an option. You can’t take the same photograph every time and live with art forms with no differences.

I am standing in the middle of the room. I cannot hear myself think over the roar of the Moana soundtrack playing at max volume. I am slowly sipping room temperature coffee while wearing craft-paper rabbit ears. My children are dancing - really just running circles - around me.

It is a fantastic Saturday morning indeed.
