People keep making new Substack newsletters. I keep pointing out politely that the founders are terrible enablers of transphobes, hate speech, vaccine denial, and more. They reap their reward from fear, hate, and disinformation.

#introduction

My name is Elizabeth but please call me Lisa.

I'm probably best known as the person who started the #Safari and #WebKit projects at #Apple. You may think you know my deadname but... you don't.

I've drawn underground comics, pioneered using a Mac for newspaper graphics and developed software at Adobe and Netscape.

Now I write video #transcoding scripts and sometimes podcast.

Follow me and I'll fill your timeline with boosts.

Just lost another author to Substack because we wouldn't let them use Medium to hate on trans women. That's two this month.

Meanwhile, I bet we have 1000 active trans authors writing useful things about programming, management, relationships, psychedelics, data science, AI, gardening, entrepreneurship, art, video games, movies.

When trans women are allowed to compete as women, they overwhelmingly lose to cis women. That's a fact.

But everybody has an anecdote.

Everybody knows a guy who knows a guy. Fucking jokers.

My fellow cis Americans, I want you to look at this map. Really look at it. And I want you to imagine what it would feel like if those red states were threatening you and your family. Because, ultimately, they are.

This is what creeping fascism looks like. It will harm ALL OF US. And it will take all of us, together, to fight it.

We don't sacrifice people. We stand with our trans siblings. When their rights are threatened, all our rights are threatened.

May Anti-Trans Legislative Risk Map

The map of anti-trans risk has polarized into two Americas - one where trans people have full legal protections, and one where they are persecuted by the state.

Former NBA star Dwyane Wade, a Florida sports legend whose daughter is trans, revealed he moved out of the state in part because his "family would not be accepted or feel comfortable there". https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/dwyane-wade-explains-why-relocated-100934979.html

I've decided to ACTIVELY decouple from Twitter: Every day, I go back and DM at least 10 of my followers, telling them I've moved here and to follow me here instead (I remove them as followers after that DM). A number of them have set up accounts as a result.

Please do the same if you're more active here than on #Twitter That's how you can help the #twittermigration

Boost if you agree.

#spreadmastodon

I have a very dear friend wanting to join Mastodon from elsewhere, but he's hoping for a server that's going to help him stay dialed into his work in #trans   activism. I said I'd put it out there and see if anyone had any recommendations. What say you, Fediverse?

UPDATE: Thank you all so much for your boosts and your advice. Not only was I able to present him with some great suggestions, I got to show him how amazing and welcoming you people are. Y'all are the absolute best.
