Just an old dreamer wishing he could travel back in 1993 and warn folks about how sad our world has become..

"Arguing that you don't care about the right to privacy because you have nothing to hide is no different than saying you don't care about free speech because you have nothing to say." -Edward Snowden

Trump would rather release fake evidence of UFOs than real unredacted Epstein Files.

He’d rather spend billions to eliminate Iran over an imagined nuclear program than spend a fraction of that to eliminate poverty here at home.

He’d rather prosecute Comey over a made up threat while pardoning 1600 violent convicted insurrectionists.

Fascists will spare no expense to avoid accountability and advance autocracy.

The AI takeover that no one asked for is coming at a massive cost to people and planet 😮‍💨⁣⁣

Behind the AI hype is a surge in energy use, data centre expansion and growing threats to democracy.⁣

Can it still be called progress if it deepens environmental harm, surveillance, and the grip of Big Tech and autocrats on power?⁣

I quit all Google products in 2023... Best move I made and don't miss any of it. Now, I use Aurora as a replacement to the Google Play store to install some apps i can't find elsewhere (no need for a Google account here..) But most of my apps are either FOSS ones (downloaded from F-Droid or straight from the developed Github page).

Edward Snowden: What Changed, What Didn't | State of Surveillance - State of Surveillance

A decade after the NSA revelations: bulk phone collection ended, encryption went mainstream, but Section 702 expanded. The surveillance state adapted.

Ouch... I an especially worried about this...

For those who recall the debate surrounding Microsoft Recall not long ago, Claude Code's capture of activity is similar. Every read tool call, every Bash tool call, every search (grep) result, and every edit/write of old and new content gets stored locally in plaintext as a JSONL file.
