💪🙌💥Public pressure works! #meta delays implementing their AI training of users personal data.

@[email protected] filed legal complaints in 11 European countries we joined up with them in Norway.

In Norway, the public outcry has also been deafening at times.

We will follow closely and our arguments still stand: Meta does not have a legal basis for such processing.

🇬🇧🚨Beware: The #ChatControl proposal which has been stalling could be adopted by EU governments after all. France is considerung to give up its resistance.

The "compromise": Either you agree to have your chats scanned or you can no longer share&receive pictures/videos and links!

Read all about it: https://www.patrick-breyer.de/en/majority-for-chat-control-possible-users-who-refuse-scanning-to-be-prevented-from-sharing-photos-and-links/

@Wtebbens @aral we have modified it to nothing tops Groningen :D
We will share the link if we manage to stream it :D
@aral looking forward to welcoming you here! Have a good flight!

Waiting for my flight to Amsterdam before a train ride to Groningen to present the Small Web at my colloquium on computer science at the University of Groningen tomorrow.

@aral @xot ah what a pity, but yeah, next time :D would have been an interesting q&a session with Jaap-Henk there too! :D
@aral its a pleasure Aral, we are very much looking forward to your talk!

Looking forward to presenting my computer science colloquium on Small Web at the University of Groningen, Netherlands, on 11th of June, 2024 at 4PM.

There might be space for a few people from outside the university to attend so if you want to drop by, make some noise and I’ll have a chat with the university.

Thanking @mirela for organising this and looking forward to hopefully meeting some of you in the Netherlands soon.

Just like #Apple, #Meta is daring the #EU to enforce its democratically enacted laws, implicitly promising to pit its billions against #Europe’s institutions to preserve its right to spy on us."

Big Tech to EU: "Drop Dead"

The European Union’s new Digital Markets Act (DMA) is a complex, many-legged beast, but at root, it is a regulation that aims to make it easier for the public to control the technology they use and rely on. One DMA rule forces the powerful “gatekeeper” tech companies to allow third-party app stores...
