@yuliyan @gruber I like the discussion. Here’s the thing: as people have freedom 2 choose, they choose isolation bec we’ve all been hurt by people, so 2 varying degrees we choose 2 protect ourselves fm people in isolating ways. I’ve spent a lot of time overseas in areas that r much less affluent than the US, & people are generally poorer, have fewer choices & more difficult lives, but are happier & closer to their families. The #visionpro being isolating will be a symptom not cause.

I’m no Luddite or naysayer, I think the #apple #visionpro is super cool…but did anyone else watch the keynote or product video and get some low key dystopian vibes? Especially the part where the dad is watching a video of his family, alone, in a dark room? Might be using the wrong words, I don’t know.

Maybe I’m just getting old. I think Apple nailed a first pass at this so well that I can ACTUALLY see how this could be pretty common in the next decade. Not totally sure how I feel about it.

Sometimes journalists, newspapers, “influencers,” scientists, politicians & the rest of us get things wrong. But instead of acknowledging our mistakes, too often, pride or social norms get in the way of saying so.

But it’s good to change our minds when we have new evidence or a new perspective or experience that shapes our perceptions.

That’s how we learn. How we grow. And talking about it should be normalized. The expectation rather than the exception.

I'm not planning to leave Twitter at the moment, but I'd say in the last couple of weeks I've reached the point where if I was not on Twitter, I would not miss it all that much. Thanks to Mastodon and other services, what Twitter gives me as a user is replaceable. If that's true of me, it's true of others. That should scare Elon Musk a whole lot.

Marine Iguanas are the only marine lizard species in the world found only in the Galápagos Islands. They can dive as deep as 30m (98ft) and hold their breaths for 30-40 mins. It’s believed that they evolved from a common ancestor millions of years ago after arriving on the islands by rafting. On our expedition we only had a small one window to see them and although the weather was turning for the worse, we took our one chance dove on in and luckily were able to witness them with our own eyes. Deer deliver in the strangest of places! If you find a fawn in your yard, leave it alone, do not touch, move or feed it. They have no scent and predators cannot find them unless humans interfere. Mom leaves during the day for 2 primary reasons: to feed, and to keep her scent away. Mom will return, but not until dusk and not if humans are around.
