Got yet another short-story rejection this morning.

Even though I just sent the story back out to another market, I still feel like curling up and sobbing for a bit. Thinking thoughts like "who am i kidding?" and "why do i bother?"

I know it'll pass. Still, hard to feel motivated to do anything, let alone focus on the (very nice) day job that I should be more grateful for.

WonderCon 2018 Day Two

Spent most of my second day at WonderCon in the Writers Coffeehouse. Caught a few writing panels after. Notes below! Writers Coffeehouse hosted by the writer Peter Clines rule one: there’s always e…

WonderCon 2018: Notes From Day One

WonderCon 2018 was amazing! So much more relaxed than Comic-Con. I’ll do a summary post about the Con later this week, but I wanted to get my notes from Day One up first thing :) Note: Some o…

Just got home from WonderCon.

What an amazing convention: relaxed, friendly, and full of new friends, new stories and new sources of advice.

Definitely going back next year, hopefully for all three days.

#introduction  I'm apg on github/gitlab, apgwoz on the bird service, and some combination of apg or apgwoz pretty much everywhere else on the internet.

I begrudgingly write #go to work on metrics and operations for a popular PaaS, and tend to lean towards #racket and "not go" for personal projects, which I don't have enough time to complete.

I bounce between #freebsd and #openbsd on my personal machine, which I'm usually too tired to use by the time I'm done "computing" for the day.

Heading up to Wondercon by train!

...I'm way too excited about this. But I can't help it :)

We have a lot of veterans here on Mastodon, you'll get the hang of the memes eventually. A ton of us joined in April last year. It's been a crazy roller-coaster year.

We do welcome you with open arms, just take notice of your instance rules which can be found at your instance.domain/about/more usually!

If the rules do not apply to you, or you see someone else seeming unaware of them, do report! Admins and moderators are here to help!

Writers: have you ever accidentally addressed real world folk who aren't your readers in the slang you invented for your WIP?

#introductions

Hey peeps, I'm Stu and I run straylight.expectnomore.net. It's a small instance where I constantly try to cajole old internet friends into joining, but it's also open to anyone looking for a home online.

I post mostly about my pets, music, game development, and home improvement. And also usually links to weird shit.
