A recent image I took of the Rosette Nebula in Monoceros. About 5,000 light years away and about 130 light years across. An active star-forming nebula with lots of hot young stars, some of which have blown the 'bubble' in the centre.

By way of #introduction - some of my interests and activities. Picture I took of the California Nebula in Perseus. It is a narrowband image with the blue being oxygen-3, and the orange-yellow a mix of sulphur-2 and hydrogen-alpha emissions. The bright star above and centre left is Menkib, a hot blue giant making the gas glow brightly. #astronomy #astrophotography
