fighting crime, one microservice at a time
Just saw this at Heathrow. Not ok! You don’t “train data”!
Today's AI feeling concerns the LLM "safety" work and realising why it's bugging me: it's like getting a child to say rude words even though it doesn't understand them, then (giggling behind your hand) pointing at the child and telling everyone they're a rude child. I get why it needs to be done, but these things just say any old sentence, right? What deeper thing am I missing? What are we testing here?
I remember once upon a time we could use one client to talk to all our friends on the internet. It would. connect to a bunch of different chat protocols. Now, as an old man, i spend a couple of cycles just trying to remember which service i use to talk to which mate. What's it going to be like when I'm *really* old? Will we be back to just trying to memorise everyone's phone number?
@revdancatt I enjoyed your last week notes (the snowy one). The “hot or not” process reminded me of Dawkins’ biomorphs in The Blind Watchmaker - also from the 80s! He got bees involved iirc.

look at all the UI on an oscilloscope!

What do people who need to look at physical signals in wires/circuits use in this day and age? Do we just sample and wedge it in a computer?

Big jump in #streamscope today! https://github.com/mikedewar/streamscope#18th-feb-2023 got labels working, and can now discard old objects!

@tomstafford text!

(it's more readable and less fun in the readme)

Frozen condensation inside the WTC blue bottle.
Nooo destroyed my Pigma Micron doing #penplotter stuff today! Need to be more gentle I suppose? Or maybe just a bad pen for millions of tiny lines?
