Is there any research looking at what the lack of any kind of regular eye contact does to remote teams? Today I realised that I've never made eye contact with like 70% of the team i work in. Surely that does something weird?
In my online undergraduate P5.js course, students are about to begin the module on motion and physics, including a bit of physics simulation using Matter.js. It suddenly occurred to me that I had never seen anybody put together this particular demo before, and I realized it had to be done. Messy source code at

The Mythical Agent-Month – Wes McKinney
Wes McKinneyin large companies, text generation: code, contracts, documentation, fsm, specs, etc; these aren't bottlenecks. Decsion making and consensus building, internally and externally, are the bottlenecks. You could drop the time it takes to generate text to *zero* and productivity in large orgs wouldn't change.
In motorway service stations now there’s often the “old” chargers that you see on the way in, and then a much bigger bank of newer, less likely to ruin your trip, often much more powerful chargers around the corner that you don’t see until after you drive out. You need local knowledge to find them, except these are service stations: there’s no “local”. So the old ones are full of annoyed, crammed in drivers, while the new ones have a sprinkle of smug drivers, and soon to be charged EVs…
ooh i found it! Knew it was something to do with you

Toward Believable Acting for Autonomous Animated Characters.
Hey some time ago here on this thing, there was someone making lovely characterful animal animations. I have a distinct memory of a fox-like thing walking down to water and responding to it. Was it you, by any chance? Or do you have a similar memory except you can remember who it is?
I can't shake the feeling that Claude Code is doing busy work. The weird thing is that I don't know if this is due to my (generally awful) experience working with contractors or some latent distrust of San Franciscan tech companies.
how quickly do AI coding agents enshittify? I can see a world where my agent doing tons of busy work, or deliberately making errors to fix later, is going to burn through my credits super quick.
Worth noting with Mastodon - one of the reasons for no cookie consent popup is.. there are no tracking cookies. At all.
Similar with official mobile apps, there's no privacy agreements etc in the app stores as there's no third party tracking.
Why is this notable? Try doing the same check on Facebook, X, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky or basically anywhere or anything else online. It's basically unheard of in 2025, as everybody else is selling you.
