Really enjoyed doing this #Sashiko Hexagon Stitch variation (kawari kikkozashi). Has some map / data viz potential for encoding values in a hex grid too. ✌
Finished my root system #generative #embroidery experiment. Made by starting with a full thread, splitting into 2, then again into 3. Decided to add a second grey layer under the white to give it some depth. Pretty happy with this. :)
#WIP Branching #embroidery experiment. This has been fun to do this week. Take a thread, begin a branch, split thread into 2 branches, then split those into 3.. seems to create a surprisingly convincing branch / root system. 😀
Starting a new thing.. had the idea of creating branching / root systems by taking a thread made of 6 individual threads, splitting into 2, then into 3, so getting thinner each division. Seems to be working. Inspored that famous picture of an unwound rope. Has #dataviz dendrogram potential. #stitch

Still need to iron out the pen marks and mount this, but so pleased with how this first experiment in #Sashiko #hitomezashi on a #crossstitch fabric grid went.
The composition and color choice was pretty random, but turns out was well timed for #eclipse week.... so I've called it "Transit".. as in, the moon's transit across the sun.
Definitely some #generative / #dataviz potential in these materials (as others have already shown).
Rare that these experiments come out "just right", but I'm really happy with the #hitomezashi stitching here. The #crossstitch material keeping me neat. Next, to add another colour and see if i can work around that inner circle... I realise I seem to be accidentally making an elaborate death star, but that wasn't the idea! 😅
Pattern emergence #sashiko #hitomezashi #crossstitch .. also, because the same thread started to get boring, I'm going to switch color and look at circle/circle composition.. all this with an eye on #dataviz encoding strategies (obviously).
Starting a new thing.. trying some super fine #sashiko #hitomezashi patterns using the grid in this #crossstitch fabric.. this may take a while 😅
