#Urnes #StaveChurch. #Norway ’s oldest and most highly decorated stave church. This version is the forth iteration on the same spot and dates from around 1130, just after the #Viking age.
The sides include exquisite #woodcarving over 900 years old. These panels include the original main entrance door facade (on the right). They include a mix of christian and old Norsk symbolism.
Would recommend anyone visiting this area to take this trip including the ferry ride!
