OpenAI: We refuse to tell you what's in the training data for GPT-4, for "safety".
Also OpenAI: We're throwing 10x $100k at "experiments in democratic process" for determining rules AIs should follow.
You don't get to regulate your own business.
I thought this was really powerful, from a story on NPR about a Texas doctor who is leaving the state because she can no longer provide treatment to her patients.
Dr. Ximena Lopez, a pediatric endocrinologist in Dallas, has been at the forefront of gender-affirming medical care for trans youth in Texas for the past 10 years. Now, as the state prepares to ban this care for minors, Lopez announced she’s closing her practice and moving to California.
Also, if you want to join my lab:
What would you do, and what kind of background might you have?
I expect to primarily hire students with backgrounds in computer science or engineering. And, we will do work spanning from theory to practice for aerial and mobile robots.
At Mines, I plan research aerial robots, view planning, and multi-robot teams with applications to #drone filming and videography, infrastructure inspection, and mine safety, search and rescue.
If any of this piques your interest, and you are considering applying to graduate programs (MS or PhD) this fall, please reach out!
