I've had the idea for a weird kind of Twitter client for years. With Mastodon being all open, I've decided to do the experiment:

What if your Timeline looked like iMessage. A normal timeline confuses me to no end because everything is out of context.

My experiment, Ebou, is a Mastodon client that looks like iMessage. Conversations are grouped by friends and sorted by recent postings.

It is super basic right now, but this already feels much more natural to me šŸ˜€

Ok, so.

Tweets look really good when you send them in Messages on iOS/macOS. Mastodon posts… don’t. So I built a little tool that makes them much nicer to look at:

https://mstdn.link

Add ?to={any Mastodon post URL} to the end of that domain and when you send it to a friend, you get the nice looking preview. Of course the page makes it easy to paste a URL in. And there’s a Shortcut to make it even easier on iOS or macOS.

mstdn.link - Share Mastodon posts better

@mgwelch @daringfireball Soon ish? I don't know how long it will take, but I've heard the Mastodon API is nice to work with. šŸ¤ž

@daringfireball @gruber ā€œNote: auto-posting isn’t actually working yet.ā€

Coming soon?

It seems people still have issues with wireless Time Machine backups. But maybe the switch to SMB in later macOS releases is helping? Doesn’t seem worth it to buy symbology if the reliability is no better than what I have with some usb drives on an old Mac mini as my ā€œNASā€.

Many recommend to use wired connection but as far as I can tell there’s no way to disable Time Machine when using Wi-Fi. And a laptop is likely to be wireless sometimes. #askatp

I’m in the @Ivory beta. It’s nice. I use it. But I don’t understand everyone’s opinion that it’s so much better than the mastodon app. What am I missing? The mastodon app seems pretty good and obviously has more features implemented.
And finally: are all your computers using wired connections? Wondering about reliability of wireless Time Machine backups to synology.
Also wondering what model you’d be interested in.
Hey @atpfm on a recent show you discussed replacing your synology devices as they are 10 years old. Wondering how many bays you have in the old devices and how many you might get in a new device. #askatp
Just an fyi @atpfm. I received my second chicken hat. This one from the most recent batch. It’s significantly smaller than the one I received in the first batch. The first one fits great and has since day one. The new one is like a vice on my head. Variability in construction process? Manufacturer may want to look into this.
