It seems people still have issues with wireless Time Machine backups. But maybe the switch to SMB in later macOS releases is helping? Doesn’t seem worth it to buy symbology if the reliability is no better than what I have with some usb drives on an old Mac mini as my “NAS”.
Many recommend to use wired connection but as far as I can tell there’s no way to disable Time Machine when using Wi-Fi. And a laptop is likely to be wireless sometimes. #askatp
