@caseyliss @siracusa @marcoarment Apple won’t release a dual boot phone for all the reasons you gave, but what about iPad style multitasking when an iPhone is docked to a display, keyboard and mouse? Apple is going to have to create mechanisms to transition apps between screens and sizes anyway for the folding phone. All your data resides in one place. The UI and app experience would be consistent (much more so than with MacOS). http://iPhoneDeX.com #askatp

@marcoarment With the audio signature detection you could presumably, if you wanted to, offer the ability to automatically skip over dynamically inserted adds. Why haven’t you done this? (I can think of some good reasons why not, but I’d like to hear yours and your reasoning) #askatp
2/2 : For context, I’m a photographer with heavy Lightroom and Photoshop use, and currently now working in Architecture with software that uses the computer’s resources much heavier than Adobe apps. I can run Revit in Windows via Parallels on a MacBook Air and design all I like without much trouble at all. I do want to order a Mac Studio once they’re updated with the M5 Max but I fully expect and believe it will last 10 years without a sweat. 2/2 #askatp @atpfm
1/2 : Has apple silicon changed the way we use computers? Once upon a time we used to upgrade ram, change a GPU or CPU, but these days is it actually that necessary? We like to complain that the SSDs and RAM on Macs are soldered down and can’t be upgraded—but do we need to? My last MacBook Pro lasted 7 years (now used as secondary Mac), and my MacBook Pro before that was 11 years. I’m now on an M3 Air and have never felt the need to upgrade components. 1/2 #askatp @atpfm

#askatp @atpfm Is @siracusa grabbing the next Mac Studio or keep the Pro until it's not supported? Pt II: What about gaming? Wait for Steam Machine? Buy/build a Windows (or Linux? 👀) PC?

@atpfm #askatp Curious to know what Casey (and others) are storing on their massive SSDs and Synologies. My entire digital world is about 200 gigs, and that includes my 100 gig photo/video album. Are you storing old Linux ISOs, 10 years of Time Machine backups, entire catalogues of TV shows and movies as mp4 files, etcetera? Buying and keeping terabytes of NAS capacity and terabytes of B2 or other cloud capacity is expensive. What are these huge files you're keeping and do you ever use them?
@atpfm #askatp Listening to the latest episode and the line "settle all family business" stuck with me. What are you thoughts on how Apple would handle a wave of settlement and changes on the (hopefully soon) CEO transition. I recall that Tim Cook decided to mostly put the large swathe of android litigation behind them when he took over, leaving behind Jobs vow to "destroy" android. Do you think that new boss man Ternus will look at doing the same with the large volume of compliance and developer relations issues they currently have? Leaving behind the scorn and entitlement that Tim, and I assume many current heads at Apple do. Or do you think he may feel the same way and continue down the same path.
The latest @atpfm episode about the new transcription feature in Overcast made me wonder: I suspect I know @caseyliss’s answer, but can @siracusa or @marcoarment read the title of any ATP episode and recall what that episode was generally about? #askatp
@atpfm You often discuss metric vs. imperial. But what are your thoughts on paper sizes? Our ISO A4, cleverly based on √2, versus your silly US Letter. Hannah Fry has a great short about it: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/KW_bvB33kBc #askatp

@atpfm @marcoarment recently mentioned that he does public releases of small utility apps that he makes. I’ve been thinking of doing the same. Do you charge for those apps? #askatp
