Patrons - check your inboxes. You’ve got a little surprise! 🎁

As a thank-you for supporting Vernissage, you’re the first to get access to the native iOS app (via TestFlight). It already includes almost all key features - the only thing coming later is push notifications (needs more backend work). I’m aiming to make this app as user-friendly as possible, with a strong focus on great UX. After testing and stabilizing, I’ll release it on the App Store for everyone (still deciding the model).

🎉 Vernissage 1.29.0 is out!

What’s new and improved:
- Skip boosts from blocked instances
- User blocked domains API
- Fix parsing of person attachments with Link type (thanks @pfefferle!)
- Dynamic home cards feature
- Cancel file upload

Big thanks to all of you for your help and support! 💙

As the year comes to an end, here’s a look at the roadmap screenshots showing what was done in #Vernissage this year.

Over 100 bugs fixed and features implemented - and that’s only what made it onto the roadmap. Many more improvements happened along the way.

It’s been a very busy year, and I’m really happy with how #Vernissage looks and works today. There’s still a lot ahead, but the platform is slowly becoming mature - and I’m optimistic about what the next year will bring. ✨

#YearInReview

Today I finally managed to fix one of the most annoying bugs in the #Vernissage web client. It was related to loading images and the browser crashing after scrolling through a dozen or so pages of photos. Now you can scroll as much as you want 😊

Fixing this also uncovered a few other issues - including some API-related ones. You might notice that only a small number of photos load at first, but that should stabilize over time.

🚀 Vernissage 1.26.0 is out today!

API updates:
- Migration to Swift 6.2
- Renamed unit test titles (less code duplication)
- GPT-5.2 support (optional ALT text & hashtag generation by the photo author)
- All dependencies updated

Web client:
- Upgrade to Angular 21 (getting closer to zoneless 😉)
- Fixed bug after canceling photo upload
- All dependencies updated

🙏 Thanks for all the help and valuable feedback!

Just experimenting… 😊

In the coming weeks, I’m planning to split the user-facing API from the background processes that fetch data from other Fediverse instances. This will require extra resources but should boost Vernissage’s performance! 🚀

@mczachurski I’m trying to figure out whether I should file a bug report on GitHub, or if I’m just missing an important factor in how categories affect the results.
@mczachurski, I’m wondering how exactly categories work in #Vernissage. Do they group posts that contain any of the hashtags added in the category definition, or are there other criteria taken into account? Intuitively, I assumed it should be posts containing any of the category’s hashtags, but when I manually search for a given hashtag, I end up with a lot more results than what I see in that category.
