I used the first Pixelfed site for quite some time. But, after a bit, there were some things that weren't working properly, at least not for me...
So, when I heard about Vernissage, I gave that a try, and I'm liking it a lot.
But... I do miss the ability to create collections, where one can easily share many posts of a certain topic in one go.
I recently read that a Dutch organization has started a Pixelfed instance. But, they used a dot com account site (for now, as that was one available to them).
I would be really interested in joining a new Pixelfed, especially when it's European 🇪🇺 based. But, I do hope that this project will be able to create a new instance, with an "ending" that doesn't link to US bits (like the dot com). I read that they were looking for the option to actually go for that (soon?), so I'll have to try and find the Toot again about it... As I thought I bookmarked it and now... My chaotic brain can't find it anymore...

Still, a European Pixelfed with some security to run for a few years at least, sounds very good! 😁 But for now, I'll keep using vernissage.photos, as it's good too. I just miss the collections. Ow, and an easy way to read/view people's alt texts when looking at their photos on the Vernissage page.

The settings aren’t fully right yet: I can’t post from Tusky, but at least it works in Fedilab.
Strange thing: if I post 12 photos on Misskey, Tusky only shows 4. But if I post 17 photos on Pixelfed, all of them appear. 🤔

500px has a great feature. Once a photo reaches enough likes, comments, etc., it is automatically upgraded to a Popular Page for a larger audience.

I think it is a great way to grow organically.

Why haven't other social media platforms implemented this feature?
