A dive into the depths of IC 1396, the Elephant's Trunk Nebula. This is a two pane mosaic of image data captured during an exceptionally long clear spell in the Netherlands from the end of May to the midst of June.
More info and colour-images of the M31 [OIII] emission arc have been released by the discovery-team (Yann Sainty, Marcel Drechsler and Xavier Strottner):

Auriga's Core | Hα-OIII bi-colour

Integration time: 21 hours, 10 minutes (127x 300" Hα, 127x 300" OIII) | Optics: Takahashi ε-180ED f/2.8 | Camera: ZWO ASI294MM Pro (B 2x2, G 120, T -15 °C) | Acquisition: ZWO ASIair Pro | Filters: Baader-Planetarium Ultra-Highspeed | Mount: Astro-Physics Mach1 GTO | Location: Zoetermeer, Netherlands | Date: 17, 22, 23, 24, 25 & 27 March 2022

Amateur #astronomers Marcel Drechsler, Xavier Strottner et al did it again: the discovery of a never before noticed OIII nebula ‘in plain sight’ just next to the Andromeda Galaxy (M31). The most probable hypothese is that the nebulosity lies in M31’s halo. tinyurl.com/M31-OIII

Over 80% of the world’s population & 99% of Americans & Europeans live under "sky glow," where light pollution affects wildlife, human health & our ability to observe celestial objects.

As we lose the chance to look up & peer back in time at once vivid stars, we risk forgetting our place as a single species in the magnificent symphony of life. https://education.nationalgeographic.org/resource/light-pollution #space #science #nature #SharedPlanet

Light Pollution

People all over the world are living under the nighttime glow of artificial light, and it is causing big problems for humans, wildlife, and the environment. There is a global movement to reduce light pollution, and everyone can help.

Calling out to all #astrophotographers. Boost or comment if you’ve experienced the early ages of #autoguiding using an #SBIG ST-4. It was a big step upwards compared to manual guiding 🔭✨😵‍💫

IC 1805, Heart Nebula (SHO). Reprocessed using BlurXTerminator. This is a little more than 29 hours of integration time through SII, Hα and OIII filters. SII is assigned to the red channel, Hα to green and OIII to blue (hence SHO palette, more familiar known as Hubble palette). Full-res on my website: https://www.mauricetoet.nl/DeepSky/

A combination of data captured with my Nikon D810a in France with more recent monochrome H-alpha data captured with my ZWO ASI294MM from home. Processed using BlurXTerminator. Definitely is another game changer by Russell Croman! https://www.mauricetoet.nl/DeepSky/i-7rRhfgf/A
