@Gulleko mine still attempts small talk but realises that she's going to have to carry that conversation by asking questions (bc I won't ask questions back.)
The one or two times I attempted to ask questions back it basically sounded like I was asking if she hates her job. 
I'm not saying I'm going to, but for those of you who do - what are some advantages/disadvantages of running your own Mastodon instance? Also interesting in hearing from those who self-manage vs paid hosting providers.
Context: At this point I'm thinking if I do, it's for myself and my content, not to support and moderate a community.
