A human on the internet.

@ai6yr I've noticed that in my area too. Tons of igates. Very few RF digipeters.

Reminds me of this reddit post
https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/1ex1gyt/six_hours_worth_of_aprs_in_the_third_largest_city/

If anyone else needs a break from doomscrolling, there are some wonderful citizen science projects which could use some help.

I find it a welcome and relaxing distraction and it feels good to be doing something positive however small.

Zooniverse

The Zooniverse is the world’s largest and most popular platform for people-powered research.

#enshittification is exhausting 😔.
@roguefoam I've also heard good things about GoSatWatch, but I haven't used it.
@roguefoam I like "ISS Detector".

@W6KME @chiefgyk3d

Ahh okay.
I appreciate the context.

I guess I was thinking of this like any other bill. Write your reps. They tally up the names and vote accordingly (I naively assume).

For example, I would hope a list of 100 names (including laymen saying "I support radio amaturs") would have more impact than a list of 20 grumpy hams.

I've encouraged family & friends to write too . But it's hard to get people to be active in anything that's more than a few clicks.

"public support is needed"
ARRL proceeds to link to a website with a canned response for liscensed amateur radio operators only.

I understand the intention to supply a list of letters from operators. But this is simply a numbers game. We need all the people we can get - not just liscensed amateurs.

Its a good start at least.

@jeromyokc congrats! Hopefully it holds up. It seems like a nice little Swiss army knife radio, but I've read some mixed reviews.

I agree about discord. In my experience, it's nice for RTC in small groups but scales poorly. I much prefer forums and blogs for their longevity, archiving and indexability.

Hit the ISS today with 5w on my 1/4 wave mag mount antenna. Not bad.
I didn't have high hopes but I could actually hear most of the pass clearly.

"Why is burning an American flag free speech, but burning a pride flag is a hate crime? " - a real quote I heard today in a public space.

Happy 4th everyone.
