i've started a new blog about my ham radio adventures. I just can't get on the Discord train as much as I want for sharing content so I'll just stick to what I like. My latest post is about visiting my hometown ham fest in Enid, OK.

I won a TYT TH-9800! Very fun

@jeromyokc Lucky you!
@ai6yr Thanks! It's a pretty neat little radio, for sure an upgrade in age from my Yaesu FT-5100 that I've been using though is similar with it's dual vfo.

@jeromyokc congrats! Hopefully it holds up. It seems like a nice little Swiss army knife radio, but I've read some mixed reviews.

I agree about discord. In my experience, it's nice for RTC in small groups but scales poorly. I much prefer forums and blogs for their longevity, archiving and indexability.

@melodicoffer Thank you, the quad band aspect is kind of not worth it since it's just FM on those two lower bands but it's decent on 2m which is what I really want it for. I'll say that I do prefer the audio tone/quality of my Motorola CDM1250 over this 9800. But more channels and more front panel functions are a nice upgrade.
